Section A, Part 1: REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

To use the free-schooling method of lungeing, you will need the following items:

At least 1 arm

1 horse

Round Pen (50')
Optional Items:
1. Lead rope or similar
2. Voice

The round pen can be either indoors or outdoors, and both have advantages and disadvantages, although it is worth noting that an indoor pen can be used in bad weather, whilst it would be a bad idea to use an outdoor pen in the same conditions. Indoor pens are usually more expensive to construct, unless you already have a suitable building in which to place them. It is possible to build a roof over an existing outdoor pen, which will keep out most of the rain or snow.
